The Y and the Way

The U 'N' I VERSE


The Tao or the Way is comprised of Yin and Yang. Both begin with a Y. In Angelish (the Original Language, or the language in which my guides speak to me), a Y always answers the question Why? Why are things as they are? Looking at a Y, we see a straight line or root (a path) which has then forked or split. Coming from the bottom up, as in the direction of the tree rising from the ground or the kundalini going up the spine, the path has come to a point of choice. I think of Robert Frostıs The Road Less Traveled: "Two roads diverge in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not be one traveler I stood, and looked down one as far as I could, to where it bent in the undergrowth, then took the other as just as fair . . . . "

Frost has come to the Y, and taken one fork. Which then becomes the root or path, until the next choice or fork in the road is reached. Taken together, these choices become our Tao, or Way, or Path.

Lets look further at Yang and Yin. Yin is Y-in, the Way In. Yang is Y-ang-le (or Y-ang-el) the angle or angel out (for in Angelish angles are angels). The Way Out. The whole of the Tao or Path is to know both the Way In and the Way Out. To be enlightened is to follow both at once.

From the standpoint of physics the issue we are raising is a technical one having to do with the implications of what is known in quantum mechanics as particle entanglement. That is the mysterious process through which in the world of quanta or subatomic particles an action involving one of a paired set of particles (paired because they both emerged from the same subatomic event) will influence the other particle instantaneously at a distance. Einstein thought this could not be possible because it would involve a signal sent between the two particles traveling faster than light. But actually there are not two events, or even two particles, but a single event which involves both ends such as pushing one end of a teeter-totter down which pushes the other end up. Here again the use of Angelish helps us to clarify the issue: a particle is a 'part I call'. It does not exist in itself, but is simply a point of focus in a larger event. It is the 'part I callı into existence as a reference point for me.

In physics scientists say that light can be experienced as particles or as waves. Waves in Angelish are Way Vees, or the path of a vector. That is, light can be a path of individuals (particles) or a path of a collective vector, or wave. Just as in life there are no individuals who do not belong to a collective of some kind (even if it is the class of outcasts), and no collectives without individuals. The Wave is Path; the Particle is me on the Path.

This simple physics lesson is by way of explaining that what can be made to seem very complicated as part of a 'special language', such as that of science, can always be broken down into simple concepts (Angelish).

Again, in the particular discussion I refer to, the 'scientific' individuals were trying to find a justification for their intuitive sense that time ought to go backward as well as forward. We can find this for them by investigating Yang and Yin (Way Out and Way In). Let's use for our image a tribe without electric light which maintains the rhythm of the moon cycles. On the Full Moon, the tribe is Yang, angular, outward, active, creative and moving forward in time. On the Dark Moon the tribe is Yin, inward, meditative and moving back in time to return to the Source. It is the magnetic power of the women menstruating together (menstruation could as well be called moonstruation) which calls the tribe into that deep inward movement. Kali, the Dark Mother or Black Hole, is drawing us back to the Beginning. In very deep meditation (whether collective or individual) we go back to the place we have come from. Time goes backward. And it goes backward in the exact reverse order from that in which it came out of Source.

To follow this, think again of the Y (why things are as they are). Just as the Y has come from a stem (a path) and forked and chosen a new path, which then forks again, in following the question Y backward, we are simply retracing our steps, undoing each choice in the order it had been made.

Moon cycles, like other cycles of dark and light or in and out, such as sleep or seasons or birth and death, are simply fluctuations in the Tao or Path. They are cyclical, in the same way that the destruction of old forms to turn them into raw material for new forms such as melting the old rustbucket auto back into iron to make a new car is a cycle. Which is why we call it recycling. The Tao, the Path, is the ultimate recycling of consciousness. We emerge from Source, make choices, try out our solutions as life artists, then throw it all into the scrap heap, as we do with our bodies between incarnations, or our consciousness in sleep between one day and the next, in order to emerge again with new choices, experiments and life-art works. To be on Our Path is part of The Way. To be on All Paths at Once is to be The Way.

Some choices, some paths are more skillful, more artistic, than others. Some are more painful. But it is never possible not to be on the path, or 'the way', or part of the 'wave' (Way-V) of greater life.
